Popular Pakistani actress Sarah Khan has finally spoken out about the viral feminist statement that recently stirred debate across social media and news outlets. Known for her powerful performances in hit dramas such as Sabaat, Raqs-e-Bismil, Namak Haram, and the ongoing series Sher alongside Danish Taimoor, Sarah has become a household name with a massive following of over 12.4 million on Instagram. She’s also part of a much-loved celebrity couple with singer Falak Shabbir.
Earlier this month, Sarah Khan made headlines for stating in an interview, “I am not a feminist. I believe men should be the ones standing in lines to pay bills. I’m an old-school woman.” The comment sparked both support and criticism, with several celebrities and fans reacting strongly on both sides of the debate.
In response to the uproar, Sarah took to Instagram to share a detailed message, clarifying her stance and offering deeper insight into her personal beliefs about feminism and femininity.
“When I say I’m not a feminist, I don’t mean I reject equality,” she wrote. “I absolutely believe in equal respect, equal rights, and equal opportunities for women. But I do not relate to the modern version of feminism. I believe in celebrating our divine femininity instead of trying to mirror men.”
Sarah explained that her definition of strength stems from traditional values—embracing motherhood, nurturing families, and living with grace and purpose. Citing Hazrat Khadija (RA) as her inspiration, Sarah noted how the revered Islamic figure balanced success, dignity, and family, proving that women can pursue ambition without losing sight of faith and identity.
She also challenged the modern notion that domestic roles are somehow inferior or outdated.
“I don’t understand why making breakfast for your husband or raising your children is looked down upon,” Sarah said. “Being a devoted wife or mother doesn’t make a woman any less capable. It’s a sacred role, and choosing that doesn’t mean giving up strength—it means embracing it differently.”
According to Sarah, feminism should not come at the cost of femininity. Instead, she believes women should be free to define their own balance—whether it’s through a career, a home, or both.
Despite the backlash, a large number of Sarah’s fans have voiced strong support for her views. Social media users have praised her for speaking authentically and refusing to conform to societal expectations. One fan commented, “This is why we admire Sarah—she’s true to herself and proud of it.”
