Delhi: As the monsoon advances towards northern India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rainfall in various regions of India. According to the weather department, the southwest monsoon in India, which has already advanced in many parts, is bringing rainfall, and due to this, IMD has issued a red and orange alert in numerous parts of India.

Rainfall in these regions

Numerous regions of India have been experiencing torrential rainfall, which has disrupted life. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in various states, including Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Maharashtra, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Meghalaya.

A red and orange alert has been issued in these regions

According to the weather department, the rainfall is likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. The red alert has been issued in East Rajasthan, whereas an orange alert has been issued in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Western regions of Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Rajasthan, and some regions of Karnataka. A yellow alert has been issued in other regions of India.

The Southwest Monsoon is a seasonal wind shift that brings heavy rainfall to South Asia, particularly India, from June to September. It is the monsoon period in India. The monsoon is characterised by a reversed wind pattern. During this time, winds usually blow from land to sea and from sea to land, bringing moisture and rainfall.
