Sawan Purnima Date and Time:The full moon date of Sawan month has special religious importance. This date is the last day of the Holy Sawan month dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is celebrated as Sawan Purnima with reverence and devotion. This is the day when the festival of Raksha Bandhan is also celebrated with great gaiety all over the country. The sisters tie a rakhi on the wrist of their brothers and wish them a long life, while the brothers resolve to protect them. However, this year, the fast and bathing of Sawan Purnima will be on different dates, not the same day. In such a situation, it is important to know when to keep the fast, when to take bath and donation, and what are the auspicious times.
According to Drik Panchang, Sawan Purnima Tithi will start on August 8 at 2:12 pm and end on August 9 at 1:24 pm. Since Udaya Tithi is on 9 August, Sawan Purnima will be considered on 9 August.
However, the devotees who keep the fast will observe the fast on August 8, because on this day Chandrodaya will be at 6:42 pm, and it is mandatory to offer arghya to the moon in the full moon fast.
It is considered best for those observing the full moon fast on August 8. On this day, the moon will be worshiped by offering arghya. It is believed that this fast gives mental peace, prosperity and auspicious results.
