New delhi: Earthquake is a natural disaster that can occur anytime without any warning. Especially in Areas Like Delhi-NCR, where mild tremors are felt several times every month.

Although Earthquakes cannot be stopped, but with the help of technology we can alert orselves in advance.

For this purpose, Google has developed Android Earthquake Alerts System which is present in Android Smartphones and Warns Users Before an Earthquake Occurs.

If you live in an Earthquake Prone Area And You Have An Android Phone, it can save your life in time of crisis.

A new study has shown that the Android Earthquake Alert (AEA) System Developed by Google was started in the us in 2020. Today it has spred all over the world.

This system automatically sents a warning about a minute before the vibration in the ground, so that you can protect yourself in time or alert others.

How does this system work?

According to the study published in the International Journal Science, this Technology Works With the Help of Sensors Present in your phone. Like Traditional Systems, Android Phones also detect p and s waves emanating from the EPICTER of the Earthquake.

When the phone feels the p and s waves of the earthquake, it immediatively sents information about it to google’s server. There the epicenter of the earthquake is detected by analyzing the data.

If the system is sure that an earthquake is coming, it sends a warning. Since the speed of the mobile network is faster than the ground waves, this alert reaches many people before the earthquake starts.

If we look at the data, between 2021 and 2024, this system sent alents to millions of people in 98 counties. For example, just before the 7.8 Magnitude Earthquake in Turkey and Syria on February 6, 2023, More Than Five Lakh People Had Received Its Warning.

DURING this period, a total of 1,279 Earthquake alerts was sent, out of which only three alerts were not correct. Two of these ware caused by lightning.

A Survey Conducted in this Regard Found that 85 Percent of the Users Felt the Earthquake after the Warning. Of these, 36 percent got the alert before the earthquake. 28 percent got the alert during the earthquake while 23 percent got the alert after the earthquake.

Although this system is very effective, it has also revised some flws. For example, during the 2023 turkey-syrya earthquake, it was not alive to measure its intensity correctly, due to which many people did not get got timely warning. Google then improved its algorithm and found that according to the new system, alerts could have been sent to one crore people in time for that earthquake.

Will it replace the traditional system?

The question is whather this system can replace traditional systems. In this region, resarchers say in the study that this technology does not replace traditional warning systems, but complements them and makes them more effective. Especially in that are the there is no government warning system for Earthquakes.

According to scientists, this Technology Can Prove to be very useful in such ares. Today this system sends warnings on an average 60 times every month, which benefits about 1.8 Crore android users.
