The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the alleged collective burial case in the shrine has not found any human remains at the second place. Police sources have confirmed this. Now SIT has started digging at the third suspicious place.

The first place was excavated on the banks of the Netravati river on Tuesday (July 30), where police, forensic experts and employees of the Department of Revenue jointly excavated in the presence of whistleblower. The JCB machine was also resorted to due to water leakage, but nothing was found from there either. No human remains were recovered despite excavation at the second place too, after which the SIT has now moved towards the third place.

In this case, whistleblore has identified a total of 15 suspicious places, of which 8 are situated on the banks of the Netravati river. At the same time, places from 9 to 12 are mentioned next to the highway near the river. The 13th place is on the route from Netravati to Azukuri, while the remaining two places are said to be close to the highway in the Kanyari region.

The name of SIT chief Pranb Mohanty, who is monitoring the investigation, has been included in the panel for DGP level posts in the Central Government. According to sources, this is a regular annual process and does not directly mean posting of any central government, but this gives them eligibility for central positions in future.

In this regard, Karnataka’s Home Minister G. Parmeshwar said, “If he chooses the service of the central government, we are seeing if they can continue working in the SIT. If needed, we will appoint another officer. We will take action as per the legal provisions.”

The SIT has not put any concrete evidence in the excavation so far, which still keeps questions on the truth of this alleged collective burial and funeral case. However, the team of SIT is seriously engaged in the investigation and excavation work is going on in third place. At present, the administration has remained a vigilant surveillance regarding the entire matter and further excavations will make it clear whether there is any truth in the allegations or not.
