Express Drives had earlier reported the spy images of the upcoming Triumph’s 400 cc motorcycle, and now the twowheeler company has confirmed that the Thruxton 400 will make its debut on August 6 in India. This will be the Triumph’s fifth 400 cc motorcycle after the Scrambler 400 XC, Speed T4, Speed 400, and Scrambler 400 X. The café racer was recently spotted being shot for a TVC and is expected to be the flagship model in the 400 cc segment for the company.
The looks of the Thruxton 400 make it unique and stand out in the crowd with its semifairing that starts from the cowl and goes all the way down to the fuel tank. It gets a circular LED headlight with indicators tucked beneath the semifairing. What’s interesting to note is that the mirrors are placed on the handlebar ends rather than on the fairing.
Being a café racer, it has an aggressive riding stance with clipon handlebars. The motorcycle may appear to be a singleseater, but the rear seat cowl is expected to be removable. Like the rest of the motorcycles in the 400 cc lineup, the café racer will also get a simple analogue instrument cluster with an LCD unit that reads out the engine rpm, fuel level, and gear position. It should also come with a USB TypeC charging port and an antitheft mobiliser.
The hardware is expected to be borrowed from the Speed 400, like the 43 mm upsidedown front forks and a monoshock. The brake system consists of a 300 mm front brake and a 230 mm disc at the rear with dualchannel ABS.
The Thruxton will be powered by the 398.15 cc liquidcooled singlecylinder engine. It produces 39.5 bhp at 8,800 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6speed gearbox. It will offer multiple ride modes. The Thruxton 400 could be priced in the region of Rs 3 lakh, exshowroom.
