New Delhi: There is still doubt over Jasprit Bumrahs availability for the Oval Test. India captain Shubman Gill did not give any clear comment on whether Bumrah will play or not. Speaking to the media before the match Gill said We will take a decision on Bumrah tomorrow; the wicket looks very green so lets see.
Oval pitch favourable to fast bowlers
England have included four fast bowlers in their playing XI which increases the possibility that the Oval pitch will help the fast bowlers. Looking at the history of this ground it can also be said that fast bowlers get more help than spinners.
Arshdeep Singh is likely to make his Test debut
For this reason India can field Bumrah to play although earlier there were reports that the Gujarat fast bowler could be rested. But Gill definitely raised hopes about the possible debut of Punjab bowler Arshdeep Singh. Gill said Arshdeep Singh has been asked to be ready but we will decide on the playing XI by evening after seeing the pitch. England has not selected any main spinner... We have Jadeja and Vashi who can do this job.
Akash Deeps return is also possible
Both India and England teams have faced injury problems. Keeping in mind Bumrahs workload India may have to change the strategy. Akash Deep who has recovered from a hamstring injury can be included in the team while Arshdeep may get a chance in place of inexperienced Anshul Kamboj who made his debut in Manchester.
Gills statement on fielding and combination
Commenting on the team combination and fielding Shubman Gill said Fielding especially on wickets where fast bowlers are used more can be difficult. Our fast bowlers and the team are in good shape. Fortunately most of the players are available. Looking at the combination and the wicket we will decide on the final eleven this evening.
