Bollywood actress Disha Patani's sister, ex-Army officer Khushboo Patani, found herself at the receiving end of severe backlash after her video slamming spiritual leader Aniruddhacharya Maharaj was circulated online with false claims of it being directed at Premanand Ji Maharaj. In the late hours of Wednesday, she issued an official statement clarifying that she did not comment on Premanand Ji Maharaj, and that her words were being twisted.
Khushboo took to her Instagram handle to share her statement, which read, "It has come to my notice that a false narrative is being circulated online, mixing my name with revered spiritual figure Premanand Maharaj ji, and spreading baseless claims that I’ve said something about him. Let me make this very clear – I have not made any statement against Premanand Maharaj ji. My words were strictly in response to a misogynistic comment made by Anirudh Acharya, and were directed only at him (sic)."
The statement further read, "It deeply pains me to see people misusing and twisting my words, dragging my name and my family name into something we have nothing to do with. This kind of targeted misinformation is not only unethical but dangerous (sic)."
Khushboo reiterated, "Respecting saints and spiritual traditions is something I hold deeply in my heart. But calling out misogyny, wherever it comes from, is also my dharma - and I will not remain silent in the face of injustice (sic)."
"To those spreading lies - truth always stands tall. I request everyone to refrain from spreading manipulated videos and incorrect information. If this continues, I will be forced to take legal action against defamatory content (sic)," she concluded.
Khushboo also turned off the comments feature under her post after followers of Premanand Ji Maharaj slammed and abused her on social media.

"Agar ye mere saamne hota, to mai isko samjhadeti ki mooh maarna kya hota hai. These are anti-nationalists. You should not be supporting such ba***ds of highest order. She also questioned the gender bias in the spiritual leader's statement and asked what about the men who opt for live-in relationships.
