Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3 Character Descriptions and New Roles

New character roles were revealed through casting calls. These include placeholder names:

Carlos / Hakoda: Played by Adam Beach. A Southern Water Tribe leader, he is described as more committed to leadership than family. This contrasts with the animated version.

Kenji: Possibly Piandao, described as a vagabond with philosophical traits. Sword fighting experience is required.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3 New Filming Location

Filming for season 3 began shortly after season 2 wrapped in March 2025. While the primary location remains Vancouver, cast photos revealed shooting also occurred in Iceland. Filming took place between May 25 and June 24, 2025.

Although Netflix did not officially confirm the scenes filmed in Iceland, the volcanic terrain supports theories it will represent the Fire Nation. Fans believe the Sokka-Piandao sword training scene may have been filmed there.
