You know how some films are so bad that they are good? Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's Son Of Sardaar 2 is somewhat there, but this time, there's a bit of a stretch that makes it not as entertaining, even though it's brain rot at its peak. While I was concerned about my brain function, given how I was laughing at some of the most cringeworthy jokes and a sketch that wasn't so organically woven into the story, I just couldn't help not talk about it.
Now, depending on the kind of movies you like, or might enjoy, you can decide for yourself after reading this, whether you want to sit through it or skip it. Think 'sarson ke khet', haywire emotions and an iconic dance step, which is trying to teach kids... maths? (Yes, the viral song).
My thoughts after watching ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ Jio Studios
Son Of Sardaar 2 is all about everything elevated -- the madness, the tone, and the chaos that follows. Of course, there's no room for logic or nuance here, because that's not how we do these movies, and well, isn't that the point?
I am not saying that you don't laugh, but it's only in parts, and some of them are intentional, while others are just there. Ajay Devgn's timing as Jassi hits now and then, and Mrunal Thakur as Rabia tries. However, a lot gets lost, not in translation, but in execution, because a lot of what we see and hear is random, and sometimes makes you feel like you've seen ten reels, all with similar humour, so what's new?
I read someone talk very highly about the Son Of Sardaar 2 trailer when it released, but I don't see any kind of evolution, because this is just baity jokes and a world of Sardaars that's not changed much. Oh, and all the very many dance numbers in the movie? I just can't. Because you see them coming from a mile away, and then they just don't end.

I have a lot of complaints from this movie, and not because it is stupid, but simply because it couldn't work the comedy right, because in a day and age where all people share reels that are cringe, funny, or simply make you go 'whatttt?', there's quite a lot of room for films that explore comedy with no logic to it. And yet, this movie chose to give us a remix of everything we've already seen a couple of years earlier. I mean, c'mon, I saw 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' in theatres, with my family, and all of our minds took two business days to get out of it, but we still laughed.
And while there's all that, there's heart at the centre, a sincere moment, or moments, as we see Mukul Dev's posthumous appearance. Sure, it adds a sense of warmth in its way, even when the film functions on quite the extremes in all other aspects.
Well, it all comes down to 'should you watch it?'
Honestly, maybe, if you want to simply go to the movies and see something that's beyond logic, and isn't just about making sense or sensible jokes, for that matter, but just chaos and pure brainrot energy. If you have a group of friends who trip on Rakhi Sawant's interviews or find yourself watching some of the whackiest things together, Son Of Sardaar 2, might further help you give into that itch.
