Lok adalat challan waver: Imagine, you leave for the office and forget to wear a helmet in a hurry, cross the red light or park your car in a no-parking zone. You think no one is watching, but the truth is that CCTV cameras installed at every crossroads are recording your every mistake.
A few months later, when you go to renew your RC or insurance, you find out that your car outstands an challan of ₹ 5,000, ₹ 10,000 or even ₹ 20,000. You might be surprised to know this, but you are not alone, millions of people are facing such a situation.
To deal with this problem, the government has made a provision of Lok Adalat, where you can forgive the entire or half of your traffic invoice. This process is completely legal, simple and transparent.
Lok Adalat is held four times a year. The next National Lok Adalat will be held on 13 September 2025 at the state and district level. For this, you will have to register online 2 days in advance, in which the token number and appointment will be generated.
If you have more than one challan, you have to register separately for each invoice. After registration, you will have to reach the Lok Adalat with the required documents, appointment letters and token numbers on the scheduled date.
To see the status of your challan, go to echallan.parivahan.gov.in or use the mparaivahan app. Enter the train number, driving license or challan number and fill the captcha – all the information of the challan will be in front of you.
Older minor violations are heard in Lok Adalat, such as not wearing helmets, not seating belt, wrong parking, traffic signal, etc. In many cases the entire fine is waived, while in some cases the discount may be up to 50%. In such a situation, there is a fine on you, then you can forgive it by going to the public etc.
