Monsoon has knocked in many parts of the country and a warning of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for the next 6 to 7 days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the process of rain will continue in the areas around Northeast and Eastern India.
This time the monsoon has rained heavily in Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, in July, the state received 77% more rainfall than the average, ie 285 mm of rain was recorded. This year, the monsoon stepped into Rajasthan on June 18, seven days before normal and since then it has received good rains in several rounds. On August 2, heavy rains are expected to be relieved in most parts of the state, but Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions of North-East Rajasthan may receive moderate to heavy rains from August 3 to 6.
The Meteorological Department has warned that from 2 to 7 August, rain will continue in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. There is a possibility of extreme heavy rainfall in some areas. Especially, in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from August 2 to 4, and on 2-3 August, heavy rains may occur at different places in Bihar.
Heavy rains are expected in the sub-Himalayan districts of West Bengal for the next three days. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain may occur in many districts of South Bengal till August 7. There is a possibility of extremely heavy rains at some places in Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri, while Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Cooch Behar may receive heavy rains from August 2 to 4.
Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh have caused havoc. Several roads were closed due to floods and landslides due to rain on Friday. Chandigarh-Manali and Manali-Leh National Highways also had to be closed for traffic. In July, Himachal received 250.3 mm of rainfall, which is 2% less than the average 255.9 mm. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of heavy rains in 3 to 10 districts of the state till Tuesday.
In Andhra Pradesh, heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds have been warned from 1 to 7 August. The Meteorological Department said that from 1 to 5 August, northern coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema can blow winds at a speed of 50 km/h. Heavy rains are expected in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on 5, 6 and 7 August. Thunderstorms are expected to cause rain and strong winds throughout the week.
