Varanasi: The water level of the Ganges is constantly increasing in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and the situation is becoming very worrying. The Ganges River has reached near the warning point and has flooded the coastal areas. It can be clearly seen in the pictures taken from above that the Ganges water is spread far and wide. As far as it is seen, only water is visible. The flow of the river has become so fast that many ghats and surrounding settlements are submerged. If the water level of the Ganges is rising, if this situation prevails, then it can reach the residential areas in the next few days.
According to the Central Water Commission, the water level is expected to increase further from the next 48 to 72 hours. In such a situation, there is a big challenge before the administration that the safety of the people settled in the coastal areas can be ensured. At present, people from coastal areas have taken shelter in flood relief camps and relief material and medical facilities are being provided by the administration.
The administration has kept NDRF, SDRF and Water Police completely on alert. Also, in view of the possibility of flood, a high alert has been declared in the district. Varanasi district administration says that if the situation worsens, complete preparations have been made for relief and rescue operations.
Local people are very worried amidst the possibility of floods. From farming to everyday life is being affected. Looking at the attitude of the Ganges, it seems that the coming days can be even more difficult.
