Twowheeler sales in July have been favourable to Honda, as the Japanese brand takes the lead over Hero MotoCorp in sales. In the last few months, the two automakers have been swapping the crown and in July 2025, it’s Honda’s turn. Both twowheeler brands have registered positive YoY sales growth.
In July 2025, Hero MotoCorp dispatched a total of 449,755 units, compared to 3,70,274 units dispatched in July 2024, registering a YoY growth of 21 percent. Amongst total dispatches, motorcycles accounted for 4,00,615 units and scooters accounted for 49,140 units. For Hero MotoCorp, the Splendor remains to be the bestseller.
In July, Honda’s sales stood at 5,15,378 units, out of which domestic sales accounted for 4,66,331 units and exports registered 49,047 units. This is a MoM growth of 20 percent and a YoY growth of 17.3 percent, having sold 4,39,118 units. For Honda, the Activa is the best seller, and has been so for a long time now, which also leads the scooter segment.
Hero MotoCorp is taking a step away from the mass market for a bit, as it has commenced bookings for the Xoom 160 maxiscooter in India, which is priced at Rs 1.49 lakh. The Xoom 160 was launched earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Expo, and after a series of delays, Hero has commenced bookings, and deliveries are set to commence this month.
Apart from the Xoom, Hero is gearing up to launch the updated Glamour 125, which, going by spy shots, gets cruise control, a first for a motorcycle in this segment.
Honda, on the other hand, has focused on the mass market by launching two motorcycles: The CB125 Hornet and the Shine 100 DX. The former is a sporty 125cc motorcycle that will lock horns with the Hero Xtreme 125, a popular motorcycle in the category, while the latter is a more premium version of the Shine 100, a popular commuter from Honda.
The new Honda CB125 Hornet is priced at Rs 1.12 lakh, exshowroom, while the Honda Shine 100 DX is priced at Rs 74,959, exshowroom. The Hornet’s competitor, the Hero Xtreme 125R, is priced at Rs 1 lakh, exshowroom.
