New Delhi: Yashasvi Jaiswals passion and confidence are reflected in his game every time. Jaiswal who gave a befitting reply to Mitchell Starc during the Australia series now expressed anger at his own teammate Karun Nair in the Test match against England. During the third days play there were two occasions when he scolded Nair despite Nair being much senior to him in both age and experience.
First Incident: Got angry at Nair for missing a field change
When Jaiswal was on 95 runs in the 49th over of Indias second innings England quietly placed a fine third man to trap him on the upper cut. However Karun Nair standing at the non-striker’s end did not inform Jaiswal about this fielding change. Jaiswal got angry and scolded Nair on the field.
Second Incident: Anger over slowness in running during century attempt
Jaiswal was on 97 runs when he played a brilliant shot and wanted to run three. But Karun Nair didn’t respond quickly and settled for two runs. This frustrated Jaiswal again as he felt his century might be at risk. He scolded Nair loudly once more.
Century celebration and end of Karun Nair’s slow innings
However in the very next over Jaiswal completed his century with a single and celebrated by jumping in the air. Nair’s innings didn’t last long as Gus Atkinson dismissed him for just 17 runs off 52 balls — a disappointing performance for the spectators.
Indias strong comeback Jurel shines
Jaiswal brought up the team’s 250 with a boundary in the 58th over. He was dismissed for 118 in the 65th over. After his dismissal Dhruv Jurel came in and along with Ravindra Jadeja took India past 300. Jurel kept the momentum going by scoring 13 runs in an over bowled by Josh Tongue.
