Paris Jackson has called off her engagement to fiancé Justin Long, just weeks after being photographed crying in Los Angeles. The 27-year-old singer-songwriter and daughter of late pop icon Michael Jackson confirmed the breakup in a now-deleted post on X on July 31.
The clarification came after the Daily Mail linked the July 23 images of her visibly emotional state to the anniversary of her father's death. Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009.
Paris responded: “Those are breakup tears. y’all are fkn reaching again,” she wrote, dismissing speculation that the photos were tied to her family loss.
Jackson confirmed that the emotional photos were a result of her breakup with Long, indicating that the decision was deeply personal and not related to external pressures.
She did not provide specific reasons for the split but made it clear that the tears were from heartbreak.
Jackson and Long, a music producer, were first linked in 2022 and got engaged in December 2024. At the time, she celebrated their relationship in a now-deleted Instagram post, saying: “Doing life with you these last years has been an indescribable whirlwind.”
In June, she shared details about their upcoming wedding in an interview with Access Hollywood, revealing that the date had been astrologically selected and that preparations were well underway.
Despite the emotional images surfacing on July 23, Jackson had still posted affectionate photos with Long earlier that month during her summer tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra. “It’s been a hell of a summer so far,” she captioned the post.
In January 2025, just a month after announcing her engagement, Jackson publicly marked five years of sobriety from alcohol and heroin. “Today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
“It’s because I’m sober that I get to smile today... I get to feel heartbreak in all its glory,” she added, reflecting on her personal growth and resilience.
