New Delhi: The world breastfeeding week (World Breastfeeding Week 2025) has started from 1 August. Breastfeeding has different significance for the mother and baby. For the baby, the milk of the mother is similar to that of nectar, the baby should be made for 6 months. The right position of breastfeeding is beneficial for both mother and baby’s key to healthy bonding and both. Both the Ministry of AYUSH and UNICEF of the Government of India have jointly informed about this.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, “Mother’s milk provides all the necessary nutrients for the baby in the first six months, including fat, protein, vitamins, and minerals. It strengthens the immunity of the baby, protects against infectious diseases and promotes brain development. Along with this, mothers are also low in breast and dimbogram, diabetes and heart disease. Apart from this, UNICEF says that the right breast feeding position makes this process more effective. These include Cradle Hold, Cross-Cradle Hold, Football Hold, Lying Status and Laying Status.

1- Cardle hold-

According to UNICEF, cradle hold or cradle hold is the most popular position that increases emotional engagement between mother and baby. The mother keeps her baby in the lap in such a way that her head is on the bend of the elbow and the body is adjacent to the mother’s chest. Taking the pillow rests the mother’s arm, which makes breastfeeding easier for a long time.

2- Cross-Cradle Hold position

The second is the cross-cardle hold position, which is an ideal position for newborns and gives the mother better control over the baby’s head. The baby is placed in the opposite direction of the cradle hold, in which the head is supported by hand. This situation is helpful for new mothers.

3-Football hold or under-arm hold
