For D-Town stars Mallhar and Puja Joshi , who got married last year, it was a case of friendship blossoming into a beautiful love story. On Friendship Day , the couple, who first met on the sets of Vaat Vaat Ma, talks to us about this journey. They share, “For us, an ideal movie to watch on Friendship Day would be Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Dil Chahta Hai or Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara . Also, both of us love watching Friends.”

‘Our love for travelling has added to our friendship’

Talking about their common interests which ensured that they became friends, they share, “Both of us love coffee. We enjoy exploring the city together and eating noodles at roadside stalls, and hot chocolate late at night. We play games at arcades, explore cafes, and go for coffee trials too. We also watch movies and attend concerts together.”

Puja adds, “We often play pickleball near our house. I think our love for travelling has added to our friendship and thankfully, our go-to locations and destinations match too (smiles).” Mallhar says, “Puja loves to talk, sometimes a lot (laughs), but that has definitely helped us bond. I love listening to her.”

‘We’ve grown as individuals after marriage’

Puja believes “falling in love and marrying your best friend is the best thing in the world.” She adds, “We never planned it, but our similar interests, care for each other and being our own selves while together connected us for life. I have grown as a person after marrying Mallhar.” Mallhar agrees, “I feel more secure and at peace knowing that I have married my best friend. Yes, there are changes in terms of my choices and lifestyle, but everything has added to my individual growth.”

Are they 3am friends? Mallhar says, “Completely. Whenever either of us has a rough day, we are there for each other. Along with my warm hugs, which she finds comforting, Puja loves my special coffee. I love how caring Puja is. She tends to prioritise others’ needs and emotions over her own. While she likes everything planned and scheduled, I would love it if she does more unplanned things and takes it easy occasionally.”

Puja smiles, “I do the same. I love making his favourite coffee, and only I know the recipe for it! Mallhar knows how to take time out for his loved ones despite his hectic schedules, and I am in awe of that quality. However, I feel he should not trust every person he meets and be more careful about it.
