Who Should Not Eat Tomatoes

1. People with acidity or gas problems

Tomatoes are high in the amount of citric acid and ascorbic acid, which can increase the acid reflux or gas in the body. This can cause chest irritation, belching or vomiting. People with gerd (gastroesophagy reflux disease) should avoid tomatoes.

2. Patients with kidney problems (Who should not eat tomatoes)

Tomatoes are high in potassium. Chronic kidney diseases (CKD) patients have to limit potassium intake as it does not cause filter from the body and can cause hyperkalemia. Apart from this, tomatoes also contain oxaletes that can help in formation of kidney stone.

3. People with allergies

Some people may have allergic reactions from tomatoes, such as itching on the skin, rash, throat swelling or difficulty in breathing. This condition can be part of “Oral Allergy Syndrome”, especially among those who suffer from pollen allergy.

4. Arthritis patients (Who should not eat tomatoes)

The tomato is part of the NightShade Vegetables, which contains an element called solanine. This can increase inflammation and joint pain in some people. Although this does not happen to everyone, but if someone increases joint pain by eating tomatoes, then they should avoid its intake.
