Most airports in Southeast Asia, except for Singapore’s Changi, failed to make the top 100 in the World’s Best Airports 2025 list due to poor on-time performance scores.
The ranking, released by AirHelp, a global leader in flight compensation services, evaluated 250 airports worldwide based on three criteria: on-time performance (60% of the score), customer satisfaction (20%), and the quality of food and retail services (20%).
Changi Airport, frequently named the world’s best by international organizations, ranked 34th and was the only Southeast Asian airport to make it into the top 100.
Thailand’s Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport ranked 109th with a 7.2 score for on-time performance.
Other airports in the region fell below the 7-point mark for punctuality, significantly dragging down their overall rankings.
Malaysia’s Kota Kinabalu Airport ranked 141st with an on-time score of 6.9, while Kuala Lumpur International Airport placed 204th with just 6.3 points.
Indonesia’s Denpasar Airport in Bali ranked 218th with an on-time score of 6.4.
Vietnam’s Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi came in at 242nd with a 6.4 score for punctuality, while Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City ranked near the bottom at 248th with 6.1 points.
This year’s top-ranked airport was Cape Town International Airport in South Africa, which achieved an overall score of 8.57.
Doha Hamad Airport in Qatar ranked second.
