Sachin Tendulkar Tweets: The legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has reacted to India’s thrilling victory in the 5th Test of the IND vs ENG Test series on Monday at The Oval, as a result of which the series ended in a 2-2 draw.
This was the inaugural Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which replaced the Pataudi Trophy and the Anthony de Mello Trophy for Test series between India and England. Since the series ended in a tied score, both teams and their captains shared the trophy. Both teams will go at each other again in a couple of years’ time in India.
For now, fans and ex-cricketers are celebrating and reacting to this famous IND vs ENG Test series 2025, where all the players were stretched mentally and physically, but no one more than Mohammed Siraj, who bowled over 185 overs (over 1100 balls) in the series, the most across both sides, and was the only Indian bowler to feature in all five Tests.
Siraj, who finished as the highest wicket-taker of the series with 23 scalps, fittingly produced the final moment of the series by taking the last English wicket, helping India win the Test at The Oval by only six runs.
The pitches of these series, except for the one at The Oval, were batting-friendly, and all five Tests went into the final day, making players take the field for all of 25 possible days of the five-Test series.
India lost the first Test in Leeds but bounced back to take a big victory at Edgbaston. They suffered a heartbreak at Lord’s by 22 runs, and, in Manchester, they kept themselves alive in the series by batting out five sessions.
At The Oval, they fell behind in the game twice during both of England’s innings, but the pacers, led by a spirited Mohammed Siraj, brought India back both times.
On the final morning, after Overton struck two fours on the first two balls, England needed 27 runs with four wickets in hand. But Siraj and Krishna bowled spectacularly to clinch those wickets.
Sachin Tendulkar made a crisp yet profound tweet following the conclusion of the series. He said he had goosebumps as the Oval Test neared its end, encapsulating the feeling of all cricket fans. The batting maestro hailed the Indian “Supermen” for their outstanding effort in this series.
Tendulkar tweeted: “Test cricket… absolute goosebumps. Series 2–2, Performance 10/10! SUPERMEN from INDIA! What a Win”
Siraj was the Man of the Match for his figures of 4/86 & 5/104 at The Oval. Shubman Gill and Harry Brook bagged the Man of the Series awards.
The Indian players will now have a break of a month, as their white-ball tour of Bangladesh has been postponed to next year. India’s next international series is the Asia Cup from September 9 in the UAE.
