The sub500cc segment is getting more excited, as there is a new motorcycle being tested, a Moto Guzzi in particular. The Italian brand has been spotted testing a new street naked, and the details look interesting, as this is the first modern motorcycle from Moto Guzzi.

New Moto Guzzi 500: What do the images reveal?

First off is the design, as the motorcycle seen testing features a retro classic design that Moto Guzzi is known for. The underpinning also looks interesting, as the motorcycle features a tubular frame with a bolton subframe.

What’s more interesting is the power plant, as the Moto Guzzi prototype is powered by Aprilia’s 457cc parallel twin engine, which is a big step away from Moto Guzzi’s traditional aircooled Vtwins. The engine is expected to see some tweaks and a new exhaust system to suit the nature of the Moto Guzzi.

Moto Guzzi shares components with Aprilia

The engine is the same unit as the Aprilia RS457 and the Tuono 457, but there are other shared components as well. The Moto Guzzi prototype used the same wheels and braking components as the Aprilia.

Some components look bespoke to the motorcycle, such as the instrument cluster, the USD forks, the twin rear shocks, the headlight, and the tail lamp. The overall design is also a step away from the Tuono 457, and retains a Moto Guzzi touch.

The motorcycle is expected to make similar horsepower as the Aprilia, while it could also get the same suite of electronic aids, such as traction control, ABS, ride modes, and so on.

The new Moto Guzzi motorcycle is expected to make its global debut sometime next year, while EICMA this year could be a stage for the brand to showcase the preproduction motorcycle.

And speaking of production, Aprilia manufactures the RS457 and the Tuono 457 in India for the global markets, and the chances are likely that Aprilia manufactures the Moto Guzzi in India as well.

When launched, the Moto Guzzi will compete with the Husqvarna range of motorcycles, KTM, Triumph, and even Royal Enfield in the global market as well as India, if the brand decides to sell the motorcycle here.
