When it comes to the Indian technology industry the name that comes to mind is Google CEO Sundar Pichai who is always in the headlines for his salary. But do you know he is not the highest paid Indian CEO? The person who now regarded as the highest paid Indian CEO is C Vijaykumar the CEO of HCLTech. In the financial year 2024-25 Vijaykumar has earned a total of Rs 94.6 crore that is an average salary of more than Rs 26 lakh per day.
What is his basic salary?
According to HCL Techs annual report C Vijaykumar received a basic pay of Rs 15.8 crore performance linked bonus of Rs 13.9 crore long term RSUs of Rs 56.9 crore and an additional bonus of Rs 1.7 crore. His salary has increased by 7.9% compared to last year while the normal employees of the company got an average increment of only 3.1%.
If compared to Google CEO Sundar Pichai his total salary in the financial year 2024 was $10.73 million i.e. around 90 crores. In this his base pay was $2 million (16 crores) and the biggest part of $8.27 million (i.e. 69 crores) was for his personal security. In this way Vijaykumars earnings have become more than Sundar Pichai.
According to the report C Vijaykumars salary is 662.5 times more than the median salary of other employees of the company. The company currently has 167316 permanent employees and 56104 subsidiary employees.
HCLTech reports that between FY16 and FY25 the company has recorded a revenue CAGR of 9.3% EBIT CAGR of 8.1% and net income CAGR of 6.9% under the leadership of C Vijayakumar. Additionally the number of $100 million clients has grown from 8 to 22 $50 million clients from 19 to 52 and $20 million clients from 75 to 138.
What is his revised package?
The board has now approved his revised package under which his salary will increase to $18.6 million (₹154 crores) in the financial year 2025-26. That is in the coming year Vijaykumar will earn more than Rs 42 lakh per day. HCL Tech Chairperson Roshni Nadar said that the industry is in a phase of change due to technologies like AI. We have to change ourselves rapidly. We are ready to move forward even in a challenging environment.
