PM Narendra Modi China Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit Japan and China. He will visit Japan on 30 August. The India-Japan summit will participate in the summit here. After this, from 31 August to 1 September, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will visit Tianjin of China to attend the summit. This will also be his first visit to China since 2019.
PM Modi's visit to China is taking place at a time when US President Donald Trump has targeted BRICS countries to buy oil from Russia. Trump has imposed 25% tariff on India. The kind of statements that he is making about India is increasing due to buying oil from Russia.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited China in June. He attended a meeting of SCO defense ministers in Kingdao, China. He refused to sign a document that would weaken India's stance on terrorism and Pahalgam terror attacks (in which 26 people were killed). The SCO decided not to issue a joint statement due to differences on the issue of terrorism. According to the report of India Today, SCO president China and its close friend Pakistan tried to divert attention from terrorism in SCO document. Pahalgam did not even mention the attack. Balochistan was mentioned in the document.
Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic and military organization. In 1996, leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were established as Shanghai Fives. It was named SCO in 2001. SCO came into existence on 19 September 2003. Russia is also a member of it.
