CBSE Board Exams 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made some new changes related to the board examinations of 2026. Now it will be mandatory for the students to link their APAAR ID (Academic Identification Number) to the school records. Apart from this, there has been a slight increase in the examination and registration fees. Also, the board has planned to create a digital experience center with AI technology for the students, where they will be able to study in new and interesting ways.
What is APAAR ID, and why is it mandatory?
APAAR ID will be a permanent and unique digital account of every student, so that their complete educational information will be stored in one place. CBSE Chairman said that this will increase the accuracy of the data, and the problem of duplication will end. Now, schools will have to get an APAAR ID made for all the students from classes 9 to 12 so that their records can be confirmed before the examination.
"The revenue collected by CBSE in the form of registration and examination fees is used for the conduct of examinations and all other expenses incurred by the board. This fee is the only source of income that has not been revised since 2020, while the expenses of the board have increased manifold due to various reasons. The receipts from issuing migration certificates have also reduced significantly as it is no longer mandatory from 2024-25."
How much increase in the CBSE exam fee?
CBSE has increased the examination and registration fee by about 6.66% for classes 9 to 12 from the 2025-26 session. According to the board, this revision was necessary due to increased expenses and limited sources of income.
