Hsu and Wang share daughter Wang Hsi Yueh, 11, and son Wang Hsi Lin, 9, according to 8days. On the afternoon of Aug. 10, paparazzi captured Ma accompanying the children at Beijing Capital International Airport. She was seen interacting with them naturally and affectionately, putting her arm around her stepson’s shoulder, chatting with him, and helping carry their bags. The boy appeared comfortable with the gesture, walking alongside her ahead of his sister, Sinchew reported.
Photos and videos shared on Weibo prompted online comments praising her as “trying to be a good stepmother.” Many commended her kindness and expressed hope that the children would grow up happy under her care. “At least as a stepmother, she has done well,” one user wrote on Swamp.
According to Chinese media outlet 163Ma is considered rational and composed, in contrast to Wang’s more emotional nature. After Hsu’s passing, she quickly helped the family settle into a new routine, earning a reputation as a “responsible stepmother.”

When online discussions broke out after the actress’s death, Ma called for calm and urged the public not to engage in cyberbullying. “I will treat them like my own, not because of people’s expectations, but because they deserve love,” she said.
Addressing rumors that she intended to move the children to Beijing and cut ties with their mother’s family in Taiwan, Ma denied the claims, saying sudden changes in environment were not good for them. She said the children’s wishes were respected, with her and Wang working in Beijing on weekdays and flying to Taiwan on weekends to spend time with them. The children could travel to Beijing whenever they wished.
For the past six months, Ma has regularly accompanied the children to school, on outings, and shopping trips, learning about their preferences. She has cooked for them and made ice cream with them during the summer holidays. One of the children even wrote her a Mother’s Day card this year, saying: “Thank you for often taking me abroad. Happy Mother’s Day,” according to The Star.
Ma has said she is in no rush to have her own child, emphasizing that her priority is for Wang’s children to first adapt emotionally. After nearly six months, they have become comfortable sharing small secrets with her, even calling her “Mama Mandy.” Wang’s daughter once asked their Taiwanese nanny to make food for her stepmother, a gesture that moved Wang. In a livestream, he said: “Mandy Ma truly treats the children as her own.”
Ma is said to be a businesswoman who divorced several years ago. She leads a private life, rarely sharing personal details on social media. She is cherished by her husband’s family and his two children for her gentle and discreet demeanor. Wang has praised her as “a rare woman” and called her “the blessing of my life” on social media.
Hsu, known for her roles in popular dramas such as “Meteor Garden,” “Mars,” and “Summer’s Desire,” passed away at the age of 49 in Japan due to complications from pneumonia, her family announced on Feb. 3.
Hsu and Wang married in 2011 and divorced in 2021, citing “irreconcilable differences.” After their divorce, Hsu rekindled her relationship with her former boyfriend, 55-year-old South Korean musician DJ Koo, and they remarried in Feb. 2022.
Wang and Ma officially registered their marriage in May 2024, and held their wedding ceremony in May this year.
