Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming has split from his girlfriend Ye Ke, who is 14 years younger, after clashing over how public their relationship should be.

In a livestream on Thursday, Ye, 33, described the split as driven by “practical reasons,” thanking Huang for lessons in both love and business and saying she would cherish their good memories.

According to Sohu, the breakup stemmed from Ye’s inability to meet Huang’s preference for a low-profile relationship.

While Huang, one of China’s highest-paid actors, valued privacy, Ye frequently livestreamed, sharing personal feelings and controversial opinions that reportedly hurt his career.

Near the end of her pregnancy, Ye tried to stop livestreaming to show her commitment, but pressure from public opinion and the lure of livestream income strained the relationship further.

Sources told Their that Ye agreed to separate during her pregnancy after reaching a financial settlement with Huang.

Ye announced the breakup only after giving birth, allowing her to return to her career while Huang maintained his single, private image.

Many Weibo users praised her for ending the relationship amicably, saying she “knew enough.” She also sought to secure her daughter’s status as Huang’s child, never confirming his paternity outright but not denying it when asked.

Huang, famed for dramas like “The Return of the Condor Heroes”, “Shanghai Bund”, and “Summer’s Desire”, was previously married to actress Angelababy, with whom he shares a son.

Ye, a Shenzhen University graduate, has built her own fashion brand and opened a beauty salon.
