Expected to captain again in Australia tour
Rohit Sharma is likely to captain India for the three-match ODI series to be held in October. The team management and selection committee are planning for the future keeping in mind the 2027 ODI World Cup. However a BCCI official told PTI that the board does not want to take a hasty decision about Rohit and Kohlis ODI careers right now. Their full focus is on the T20 World Cup to be held in February–March 2026.
Fitness focus and training

When will Rohit and Kohli play?
Both players have not played competitive cricket since June but they are eager to perform well in the ODI series in Australia in October. India will play many ODIs and Asia Cups till 2027 but it remains to be seen whether both players will be able to maintain their fitness and form.
