The deadline for filing ITR is September 15. In such a situation, lakhs of people across the country are filing their Income Tax Return (ITR) so that they can get their refund on time. But sometimes their refund is not processed due to minor mistakes. The Income Tax Department has clarified that a refund will not be issued without ITR verification and bank account confirmation. Therefore, if you do not complete these two important steps, your refund may remain stuck.

If you do not do this, then the return will be invalid.

When you file your income tax return online, it is mandatory to verify it. This process has to be completed within 30 days after filing the return. If verification is not done within this period, then your return will be considered invalid. This means that even if you have submitted the ITR, the department will not accept it until you get confirmation that the return has been filed by you. Without verification, your return processing will stop, and the possibility of getting a refund will end.

Pre-validation of the bank account is mandatory.

Income tax refund will come only in the bank account that is pre-validated in your income tax e-filing profile. This means that you have entered the correct bank account on the portal and both the Income Tax Department and the bank have confirmed it. If your bank account validation is incomplete or incorrect, then even if you have filed the return correctly, your refund will not be transferred.

ITR verification is necessary within 30 days

If you do not do ITR verification within 30 days or do not complete the validation of the bank account, then the refund process will stop. After this, you may have to file the return again or submit additional documents, which will increase both your time and effort. Therefore, it is very important to complete both these tasks on time to get a refund. In such a situation, it is very important to understand that just filing the return is not enough to get an income tax refund. As per the Income Tax Department rules, it is mandatory to do the verification immediately after filing the return and pre-validate the bank account.
