Indonesia was named the world’s second cheapest travel destination for American tourists with daily average cost of US$70.23, according to a study by financial trading company The Forex Complex.
To determine the results, the U.K. company weighed three factors: the average daily tourism- costs in U.S. dollars, the local inflation rate, and the year-to-year change in the destination’s currency strength compared to the dollar.
The study took into account several common expenses, including the cost of accommodations, transportation options, and the price of meals at 19 popular tourist destinations around the world.
Thailand was voted the world’s least expensive destination with daily cost of $81.87.
Despite offering cheaper prices for American tourists, Indonesia is hindered by its inflation rate of 1.95%, according to The Forex Complex.
Iceland was named the most expensive popular tourism destination for 2025, according to the study. The financial trading company found the average vacation cost in Iceland totaled more than $400 per day.
It was followed by Australia and Mexico.
