Material (Janmashtami Special, Makhan Malai Modak Recipe)

  • Makhan (fresh white butter) – 1/2 cup
  • Malai (fresh homemade cream) – 1/2 cup
  • Mawa (Khoya) – 1/2 cup
  • Milk Powder – 1/4 cup
  • Bura/ground sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Some threads of saffron (soaked in hot milk)
  • Sliced fruits (almonds, pistachios, cashews) – 2 tablespoons

Method (Janmashtami Special, Makhan Malai Modak Recipe)

1- Heat a pan and cream on low flame in a pan. When both of them mix well, then add mawa to it and fry for a few minutes.

2- Now add milk powder and ground sugar. Keep stirring continuously so that the mixture does not fit in the bottom. When the mixture starts thickening, then add cardamom powder, wet saffron and chopped fruits.

3- When the mixture thickened and starts to collect at one place and leave the pan, then turn off the gas and let it cool slightly.

4- Now fill the mixture in modak mold and press it with light hand and shape. If there is no mold, light modak shape can also be made by giving round shape like laddus by hand.
