Parthasarathi Temple of Chennai: Where Lord Krishna with mustache is seen

The Parthasarathy Temple located in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, is not only the center of faith, but also an example of amazing and rare idol arts. The form of Lord Krishna sitting here will surprise you, as they appear with a mustache and beard that is usually not seen in any Krishna temple.

This temple is believed to be associated with the Mahabharata period. During the Pandavas, the Sapt Rishis did harsh penance here. Devotees believe that worshiping this place removes all the sufferings of life and gives desired results.

This especially of Lord Krishna in the Parthasarathi temple shows him as the charioteer of ‘Parthasarathi’ i.e. Arjuna. In this form of the time of war, a mustache and light beard reflects their brave and serious personality.

Sapt -sage Tapobhoomi

It is believed that at this place Sapta sages Vashistha, Vishwamitra, Kashyap, Gautam, Bhardwaj, Jamadagni and Atri did harsh practice. Pleased with his penance, Lord Krishna appeared here and blessed. Since then this place is considered sacred.

Architecture and religious importance

The temple is built in the Dravidian style, in which high gopuram, fine carvings on stones and colored sculptures are worth watching. Thousands of devotees come here every day for darshan, especially during Janmashtami and Vaishnav festivals, this temple is decorated grandly.
