Chelsea are still working on a deal to sign Alejandro Garnacho, football.london understands, but are reluctant to go above £30million to sign the attacker from Manchester United.

The 21-year-old has become available for transfer this summer following a breakdown of relationship with manager Ruben Amorim after the Europa League final against Tottenham. Garnacho was left on the bench for the showpiece final, and was critical of the decision in the immediate aftermath of the game.

In response, the Manchester United manager reportedly made it clear in front of the rest of the team that the Argentine star was free to find a new club.

While there are said to be a number of interested parties, football.london understands that Garnacho has made it clear he wishes to join Chelsea. Talks are ongoing over a deal, but the Blues are not currently willing to meet United's valuation of £50million.

The Blues are said to view a move for the star at closer to £30million, and are hoping to pick up a relative bargain given the situation regarding Garnacho's future at Old Trafford.

While United's valuation likely comes from transfers for the likes of Anthony Elanga and Jamie Gittens this summer around the £50million mark, it's clear that a breakdown in relationship will have weakened United's bargaining position somewhat.

However, Garnacho's contract at United runs until 2028, meaning they do hold some cards in the talks. Amorim has stated that the club have numbers in mind for wantaway players this summer - and if they are not met, the players will not be leaving.

"That is not the case because there are different reasons for the players [wanting to leave]," Amorim said this summer. "Some players have to find a new place to have space in the team. Other players show they want a new challenge and a new team.

"We are just allowing these players to think and decide. If they reach a point where they will have to join the team, they will join because they are our players.

"I know for a fact Omar [Berrada, CEO] and Jason [Wilcox, director of football] and the club have a number for these players. If they don’t reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that. I understand other clubs are maybe waiting for the last minute, but they can have a surprise.

"I’m ready to receive the players. They have more competition. If they want to play in the World Cup, they need to play. I’m happy with that because I’ll have more options. If they have to fight each other to play, for me it’s perfect."
