Raipur. The Prime Minister Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme is becoming a big relief for the common people. It is not only saving in electricity bills, but is also helpful in environmental protection. Jamsher Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Bilha in Bilaspur district, has installed a 3 kW solar plant on his roof, which is saving about 3 thousand rupees every month. He informed that the total cost of the solar plant came to Rs 1 lakh 85 thousand, out of which a subsidy of Rs 78 thousand has been received from the central government and a subsidy of 30 thousand rupees is going to be received soon from the state government.
Jamsher Mohammed told that earlier his monthly electricity bill used to come from two and a half to three thousand rupees. On receiving information about PM Suryaghar Yojana, he contacted the electricity department and completed the process and took advantage of the scheme. Now their electricity bill is zero, which has reduced the economic burden.
He says that this initiative of the government not only promotes renewable energy but also helps in conservation of natural resources. Solar setup was installed at his house within just 10 days of applying. He advised everyone to take advantage of the scheme, describing it as an easy maintenance and an additional expense system.
Under this scheme, solar rooftop plant is added to the electric grid through net metering. Consumers can sell the grid to the grid if there is excess power generation, which not only is the electricity bill zero but can also have additional income.
