Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a uniform fee of ₹100 for all preliminary government job exams in the state. Candidates who qualify for the mains exams will not have to pay any fee. The move aims to reduce financial burden on aspirants and benefit lakhs of youth preparing for competitive exams.

In a major relief to Bihar job aspirants, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a comprehensive reform of the fee structure for competitive government exams, which would limit the preliminary exam fee to a mere ₹100 and make the mains exam completely free.

The move, which has been viewed as a major step towards mitigating the financial burden for aspirants, has been made just months before the Bihar Assembly elections and will be likely to affect lakhs of youth who are gearing up for state-level recruitment exams.

What the CM Announced

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Nitish Kumar stated, "I am pleased to announce that a decision has been made to bring uniformity in the fees for preliminary tests (PT) of competitive examinations conducted by all commissions for state-level government jobs, and to provide significant fee concessions to candidates."

"Instructions have been given to charge only ₹100 as the fee for candidates appearing in the preliminary test of the competitive examinations. Candidates who clear the preliminary tests and appear for the mains examinations will no longer have to pay any examination fee," he added.

The decision is intended to introduce uniformity in all the recruitment agencies of Bihar, including:

-Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC)

-Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC)

-Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC)

-Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC)

-Central Constable Selection Board (CSBC)

CM Kumar stressed that giving government jobs to Bihar youth has always been high on the priority list of his government. The step is part of an overall process to provide wider access and end the financial cap, particularly for economically disadvantaged candidates, he added.
