According to her parents, the incident occurred on Wednesday night when Kudumula Anjaiya and Rajeshwari’s daughter Anjamma were sleeping outside their house. It is being told that a leopard caught the girl and started dragging her into a nearby bushes. Her father Anjaiya made a noise, leaving the leopard and fled.
The villagers reached the spot after hearing the screams. Village chief Mantanna immediately contacted the Nekkanti Range Officer and DFO of Nallamala Tiger Reserve and reported the incident. The injured girl was rushed to the Sundipanta Government Hospital in Srisailam, where she was immediately provided medical assistance.
Deputy Inspector of Dornala V. Mahesh and his team consoled the parents and arranged to get the girl admitted to the Dornela government hospital for advanced treatment. He also provided financial assistance to the family. Officials have confirmed that Anjamma’s condition is stable and they are monitoring her condition.
Meanwhile, the villagers expressed deep concern over the health of the girl and the alleged negligence of the forest department. He staged a sit-in on the Doenala-Sri Shilam main road, which disrupted traffic for some time.
