Uttar Pradesh: Speeding Scorpio carrying BJP flag injures over 10 near temple in Telibagh market; driver apprehended

Lucknow: Chaos broke out in the Telibagh market area on Saturday late night after a speeding white Scorpio, reportedly reversing recklessly, rammed into more than ten people standing near a temple. The vehicle bore a BJP flag, and the incident took place amidst Janmashtami celebrations, when the area was crowded.
Locals immediately surrounded the vehicle and caught hold of the driver, identified as Samar Singh, alias Akshay Singh, a resident of Hussain Ganj. Police from PGI station reached the spot promptly and rushed the injured to the hospital.
Three individuals, Rajesh, Anand, and 10-year-old Aarush, are said to be in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at Apex Trauma Centre. Others received treatment and were discharged.
Inspector Dhirendra Singh informed that the accused’s father, Rajesh Singh, runs a puri shop in Hussain Ganj and is also a local BJP leader. Initial investigation revealed that the Scorpio had at least three prior challans. Furthermore, Akshay Singh has a criminal history, with eight cases, including theft, robbery, dacoity, and kidnapping, registered against him in Lucknow, Barabanki, and Raebareli.
The vehicle and driver have been taken into custody, and a medical test has been conducted. Further investigation is underway.
