Rain has created havoc in Maharashtra. Heavy rains are wreaking havoc in almost every district of the state. It is raining continuously in Mumbai and its surrounding areas, due to which common people as well as farmers are facing huge difficulties.
Heavy rains in Konkan and Marathwada have badly affected agriculture. Cloudburst-like conditions have arisen in many places, due to which fields have turned into rivers. Farmers are suffering huge losses. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rains in Maharashtra for the next three days and has appealed to the administration to remain alert.
The Meteorological Department says that the havoc of rain will continue on Tuesday as well. A red alert has been issued for Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts. Extremely heavy rain has been warned in the valley areas of Konkan, Marathwada and Western Maharashtra. The wind speed in Konkan can be up to 50-60 kmph. There is also a danger of storm and lightning along with heavy rain. That is, the triple crisis of rain, storm and lightning is looming in the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has appealed to the citizens to be cautious. Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad have been receiving heavy rains for the last two days. Today the intensity of the rain has increased further. Shinde reviewed the situation with the Thane District Magistrate and directed the administration to be prepared for every situation. He has advised people to leave their homes only when necessary. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rains in the next 48 hours.
In view of heavy rains and strong winds, Minister Nitesh Rane has appealed to fishermen not to go into deep sea from 18 to 22 August. According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed in the sea can reach up to 60 km per hour. Nitesh Rane has asked fishermen to be alert and stay safe.
The rain has affected not only fields and roads but also lives. A wall collapsed due to heavy rains in Malabar Hill, Mumbai. 35-year-old security guard Satish Shirke died in this accident. Satish was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead.
