Emmerdale's Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) panics when she realises the baby she is carrying is not Sarah Sugden's (Katie Hill). Fans will recall how Charity agreed to be her granddaughter's surrogate after surgery meant she could never carry her own children. Last week, Charity shared a drunken kiss with her ex Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) and fans were left in the dark about the extent of what went on.

Later, Charity headed to the hospital with Sarah, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), and discovered that the embryo transfer was successful. But a flashback later revealed that Vanessa kicked Charity out after their kiss, and she ended up sleeping with Ross Barton (Mike Parr) instead. Next week, Ross confronts Charity after he overhears Sarah telling Vanessa that Mackenzie ended things with her grandma.

Charity denies that her breakup was linked to her infidelity and throws Ross out.

Vanessa offers Charity a shoulder to cry on, and she reveals that the baby she's carrying might not be Sarah's.

When Vanessa assumes it's because Charity slept with Mack, she doesn't correct her and explain it could be Ross's. Despite Vanessa urging Charity to tell her family the truth, she remains adamant in keeping the secret and resolves to live in denial.

Charity does her best to dispel Ross' assumptions about the baby. When Charity claims she's had tests done at the hospital in order to confirm the baby's parentage, Ross is unsure whether to believe her.

But when Charity refuses to show Ross the results of the test, he demands one of his own. Charity's at breaking point to realise she has another problem on her hands.

Speaking about the storyline, Mike Parr admitted he doesn't believe Charity and is determined to find out whether the baby is truly his.

He explained: "I think he's desperate to find out the answer because it comes with such responsibility, having another child, it's a lot of pressure on him because he's not doing so well with work right now and his living situation isn't ideal as he's always swapping and changing.

"Plus he's just met his brother Lewis. There's a lot going on for him in his head, so he just needs to get to the bottom of this. So he can get a good night's sleep."
