Reels Effects on Body: According to the recent research, nowadays people are spending most of their time on smartphones, especially in reading social media reels, videos and e-books. The study has shown that watching a mobile screen for an hour continuously can cause eye fatigue and other problems.
According to a study published in the Journal of I Movement Research, eye fatigue does not only depend on the time spent on the screen, but it also depends on what kind of content you are watching.
Researchers at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology said that watching the reels leads to more changes than reading the book in the eye effigy or watching videos. Research also stated that if someone uses mobile for more than 20 minutes in a row, it can not only have a negative effect on physical but also mental health, including problems like mental stress.
Prolonged watching blue lights from mobile and other digital devices can cause eye fatigue, sleep discomfort and other problems to watching.
To know its effect, scientists developed an affordable and portable system, which records eye activities. With the help of this system, it was seen how many times you blink the eyelids in a minute, how much time between two blinks, and how much the size of the pupil changes. These measures were taken on mobile while reading books for 1 hour, watching videos and watching social media reels.
Researchers said that the pupil of the eyes continues to shrink and spread due to the constantly changing lights and brightness on the screen of social media reels. This causes the eyelids to blink less and increases the fatigue in the eyes.
The study found that 60 percent of people suffered problems such as eye fatigue, neck pain and weakness in the hands after prolonged mobile use. In addition, 83 percent of people complained of mental troubles, such as anxiety, sleepiness and mental fatigue. To reduce these problems, 40% of people used options like blue light filter or dark mode.
