Dubai: In the latest ICC ODI bowler rankings released on Wednesday, Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has fallen to third place, with South Africa's Keshav Maharaj reclaiming the top spot.
Maharaj's rise to the top came after his impressive performance, where he took five wickets for 33 runs, leading his team to a 98-run victory over Australia in the first ODI of their three-match series in Cairns.
The 35-year-old left-arm spinner, who was awarded Player of the Match, has now surpassed both Kuldeep and Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana, having briefly held the top position in November and December 2023.
Aside from Kuldeep, Ravindra Jadeja is the only other Indian bowler featured in the top 10 of the updated rankings.
Since their Champions Trophy victory, the Indian team has not participated in any ODI matches.
West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales made significant progress in the rankings, moving up 15 spots to 18th after a remarkable six-wicket haul of 18 runs against Pakistan in the final match of their series.
Other notable movements include Pakistan's leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed, who climbed 15 places to joint-39th, and West Indies off-spinner Roston Chase, who rose five spots to 58th.
In the batting rankings, Shubman Gill remains at the top with 784 points, while Shreyas Iyer is the only other Indian in the top 10, currently sitting in sixth place.
West Indies captain Shai Hope improved his position to ninth after scoring an unbeaten 120 in the final ODI against Pakistan. Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma, and Mitchell Marsh also made gains in their rankings.
In the T20I rankings, India's Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma hold the top two spots, with skipper Suryakumar Yadav in sixth and Yashasvi Jaiswal in tenth.
South Africa's Dewald Brevis continues to rise, moving up nine spots to 12th, while Australians Marsh and Glenn Maxwell have also made notable advancements.
In the T20I bowling rankings, Australia’s Nathan Ellis and Josh Hazlewood have made significant strides, with South Africa's Kagiso Rabada moving up from 44th to 37th.
