UPSC Preparation Strategy: UPSC Civil Services Examination is considered one of the toughest examinations in the country. Every year, lakhs of students appear in it, but only a few people achieve success. The biggest reason for this is some common but serious mistakes made during preparation. If you are also dreaming of becoming an IAS or IPS, then it is very important to avoid these mistakes; otherwise, it may be difficult for you to clear the Prelims.

1. Just reading, not revising

Many candidates study for hours, but do not revise again and again. Revision is the most important in UPSC preparation. Without revision, the things read will not stay in your mind for long. Therefore, make a revision plan every week and every month.

2. Taking current affairs lightly

Current affairs play a big role in both UPSC Prelims and Mains. Many students focus only on static subjects (history, geography, etc.) and ignore reading newspapers or preparing for current affairs. This is a big mistake. Do read newspapers, government reports, and monthly current affairs magazines.

3. Just keep making notes
Some candidates keep making notes day and night in the name of preparation. But remember, notes are beneficial only when you use them again and again. Do not waste time only in making notes, but rather read them, give practice tests, and develop the habit of writing answers.

4. Ignoring test series and practice papers
Practice is very important to achieve success in UPSC. Many students do not join test series and go directly to the examination hall. Without practice, it is impossible to make a strategy for time management and solving papers. So start giving mock tests regularly.

5. Getting entangled in social media and resources
In today's time, there are countless coaching, YouTube channels, and online material available for preparation. But getting entangled in too many resources is also dangerous. It is better to choose limited but reliable sources and stick to them.
