Rinku Singh, recently chosen for the Asia Cup 2025 team, made a strong impression by hitting a century in the UPT20 League. Playing for Meerut Mavericks, the left-handed batsman scored 108 runs off 48 balls, including 7 fours and 8 sixes, against Gorakhpur Lions. Hadn’t been a great year for Rinku until this point, but he seemed to be in top condition.

While chasing a target of 168, Mavericks were in trouble at 38/4, but Rinku played well and led his team to a win. This was only Rinku’s second score over fifty in the last 12 games, and it came at the right moment as he prepares for the Asia Cup. He didn’t do so well with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, but he was still being considered for top tournaments. Mohammed Kaif, a former Indian cricketer, believes that Rinku’s performance in the UP T20 League, especially his bowling, may have affected the selectors’ choice.

Kaif said that in his opinion, Rinku Singh was picked because he is also bowling in the UPT20 League tournament. He mentioned that since Washington Sundar is not in the 15-member team, Rinku Singh might bowl a few overs on the UAE pitch.

India will start against the UAE on September 10, and then play Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai. India’s last group game is against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.
