On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi subtly criticized the Congress party following the conclusion of the Monsoon Session, which was marked by low productivity levels.
Sources indicate that the Prime Minister expressed disappointment over the frequent interruptions in both Houses of Parliament. He reportedly suggested that the leadership of the Congress party is hesitant to allow younger Members of Parliament to take the stage due to feelings of insecurity.
These comments were made during a traditional tea gathering in the office of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Throughout the Monsoon Session, Parliament managed to pass 15 bills, despite ongoing protests from opposition members who demanded discussions regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Many legislations were passed without thorough debate.
Both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned sine die a day earlier than planned, with the session having started on July 21 and encompassing 21 sittings over a span of 32 days.
In addition to the bills that were passed, the session featured intense discussions surrounding Operation Sindoor. However, a conversation about astronaut Subhanshu Shulka's mission and the significance of the space program for 'Viksit Bharat' was left unfinished due to disruptions caused by opposition demands related to SIR.
During this session, 14 bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha, with twelve being passed there, while the Rajya Sabha approved 15 bills, leading to a total of 15 bills passed by both Houses of Parliament.
