India has made a big jump to become self -sufficient in the case of semiconductor. The 23 chip design project has been approved in the country. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said on Friday that the 23 chip design project has been approved under the design linked incentive (DLI) scheme. Under this scheme, chips used from CCTV cameras to electricity meters will be made in India. Domestic start-ups and MSMEs will be assisted for this.

Among the Indian companies that have been supported from the government, a company named Vervasemi Microelectronics is also included. It is a Bangalore -based Fables Semiconductor Company. The fabless company means that it designs and develops semoculture chips, but the manufacturing of chips gets the third-party. That is, the company itself does not run the manufacturing unit, but focuses on innovation and design.

Chip will be made for these machines

The company is creating integrated circuits (ICs) made from several types of semiconductor, which will be useful in different sectors. For waiting scale and bridge sensors, for smart energy metering, for small motors for fans, for smaller motors, for EV, drone and industrial automation, engineering sampling up to data acquires for aerospace and avionics.

The ability to become global semiconductor leader in India

The company's founder and CEO Rakesh Malik says that these innovations will prove to be a milestone for India's semiconductor ecosystem. When we create high-performance, med-in-India ICs for strategic and consumer markets, not only will the dependence on imports be reduced but India will be able to show the world that it has the ability to become a leader in the global semiconductor industry.

India's semiconductor scheme

The recent step of the central government is part of the large chipmaking scheme, in which both production and design are being noted. Earlier this month, the cabinet approved four more semiconductor manufacturing projects. Two of these projects will be held in Odisha, while one unit will be installed in Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. Along with this, 10 semiconductor projects will be installed in six states with a total investment of ₹ 1.6 lakh crore. Thousands of jobs are expected to be made from these projects.
