Monsoon has become fully active in Rajasthan. Heavy rains have created flood-like conditions in many districts. Rivers and streams are overflowing in low-lying areas. Life has been disrupted due to rain in Kota and Sawai Madhopur.
The highest rainfall of 254 (10 inches) mm was recorded in Sawai Madhopur tehsil. The situation has worsened due to torrential rains in Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Baran. Army has been deployed in Dighod of Kota to provide relief to the common people.
At the same time, the Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for Saturday. Under this alert, a red alert has been declared in Chittorgarh and Bhilwara districts of Rajasthan. Very heavy rain warning has been issued in these areas.
Apart from this, very heavy rains are also likely in Banswara, Bundi, Dungarpur, Kota, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Udaipur, Jalore and Pali districts.
Schools closed in these districts
In view of the weather department’s warning of heavy rains in the state, Banswara district collector Dr. Indrajit Yadav has issued holiday orders for all government and private schools and Anganwadi centres in the district on August 23 and 24. Meanwhile, due to heavy rains in Sawai Madhopur area, the district administration has declared a holiday on August 23 for students of classes 1 to 12. In Kota too, collector Piyush Samaria has declared a holiday on August 23 for students of classes 1 to 12.
