Citroen recently announced its new business model for the Indian market called Citroen 2.0 Strategy. The first model to be launched under this revised strategy is the Basalt X. The French carmaker filed a trademark for the same sometime back and now it is all geared up to launch this new variant of the coupe SUV.
Citroen has officially revealed the first images of the Basalt X highlighting the exterior and interior changes to be expected. At the same time, the company has started accepting prebookings for the Basalt X at a token price of Rs 11,000. Prospective buyers can register their interest across all Citroën dealerships in the country and the Citroën India Website.
The first images reveal the Basalt X as an allblack version of the coupe SUV. The exterior is wrapped in a black paint scheme, although designwise, there doesn’t appear to be any noticeable changes. The cabin of the Basalt X is likely to witness more changes. The pictures reveal a dualtone black and tan interior theme.
The seats will be wrapped in a black upholstery. We also see bronze accents on the AC vents and infotainment screen giving the cabin a more premium touch. No other visual change is witnessed in the current lot of images.
We expect the Citroen Basalt X to come with a similar set of features as the regular Basalt. These include a 10.25inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, a 7inch digital instrument cluster,a 3step adjustable thigh support for rear seats, and auto climate control. Expect a few feature additions such as keyless entry, pushbutton start/stop, and a 360degree camera as seen in the C3X launched recently.
On the mechanical front as well, the Basalt will stay unchanged. It will continue to use the 1.2litre, threecylinder turbopetrol engine delivering 109 bhp, with torque rated at 190 Nm when paired with the 5speed manual and 205 Nm with the 6speed torqueconverter automatic. Pricing is expected to command a premium of around Rs 10,000 — Rs 25,000 over the current topend variant.
