Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a huge public meeting on Friday (August 22) after inaugurating the metro and highway projects in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. During this, he launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government and alleged that most of the money from the central government gets corruption.
PM Modi said that West Bengal is among the largest states of the country and its vision of developed India is incomplete without increasing its strength. He said, “The BJP believes that when Bengal rises, only then a developed India will be formed.” He informed that in the last 11 years, the Center has given more than three times the amount to the state for the construction of national highway compared to the Congress UPA government. Railway budget has also been increased three times as compared to earlier.
Targeting the state government directly, the Prime Minister said, “Most of the money we send for Bengal to the state government is looted here. That money is spent on TMC cadre. That is why Bengal is left behind in the schemes of poor welfare.”
Giving the example of Assam and Tripura, he said that after the formation of BJP government, the benefits of schemes like ‘Har Ghar Jal’, Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Pucci Ghar have started reaching people in these states. PM Modi said that the recruitment scam has put the future of the youth of the state in danger and the incidents of crime against women have increased. He said that “Corruption and anarchy have now become the identity of TMC rule.”
Referring to the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Modi said that the BJP is born with his blessings. At the same time, Prime Minister Modi described Mukherjee as the father of India’s first industry policy and the father of industrial development. Giving the example of Operation Sindoor, he said that the BJP takes the resolution and shows it. “Our army taught the terrorists such a lesson that Pakistan is still sleepy.”
At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister called upon the BJP government to benefit the public in West Bengal. He said, “Now it is certain that TMC will go, BJP will come.”
