A few months back rumours were rife that Govinda’s marriage with Sunita Ahuja has hit a rock bottom and the latter has filed for divorce in a Mumbai court.

However, Sunita had refuted those rumours stating that nobody can break their marriage.

Now, a new report in Hauterrfly has surfaced online that has claimed that the Bollywood wife filed for divorce in Bandra family court under section 13 (1) (i), (ia), (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act 1955 which are the grounds for adultery, cruelty and desertion.

The report further added that the case was filed on December 5, 2024, and Govinda was summoned but he did not appear in person and a show cause notice was issued in May 2025.

Since June 2025, the couple has been trying to work things out through court-mandated counselling.

Hours after the report went viral, a new interview of Sunita Ahuja dropped online where she once again refuted the divorce rumour and told Eat Travel Repeat, “Usko bhook kab lagta hai mujhe yeh bhi pata hai. Ki abhi isko coke kab chahiye mujhe yeh bhi pata hai. Usko acidity kab ho raha hai mujhe yeh bhi pata hai. Mere jitna Govinda ko koi nahi jaanega, aur kabhi zindagi mein nahi jaanega koi. Kyunki andar se pyaar karti hun naa usko. Jitna bhi koi karle pyaar, kuchh bhi karle, but mera andar ka pyaar hai. Woh, mere jaisa Govinda ko koi nahi pyaar kar sakta hai, naa koi usko itna samajh sakta hai. (No one knows Govinda the way I do, and no one ever will. No one can ever love Govinda the way I do, nor understand him the way I can.)”

When asked if she prefers the Govinda of the ‘90s or ‘00s and she replied, “‘90s ka. I prefer wohi Govinda. Purana Govinda, (with folded hands) waapas aaja Govinda tu yaar. Mera Chi Chi tu aaja waapas Chi Chi, aaja mere paas Chi Chi. (I prefer ‘90s Govinda. Please come back. My Chi Chi please come back to me.)”

Sunita further flaunted her engagement rings rubbing divorce rumours.

While the interview was released on August 23, it seems it was shot more than a week back considering she also talked about starting her own YouTube channel which she did on August 14, 2025.

Speaking to NDTV, the lawyer Lalit Bindra dismissed it and called it an old matter, “Koi case nahin sab settle ho raha hai yeh sab log purani cheezein utha ke daal rahe hain (There is no case, everything is being settled, people are just bringing up old matters)”.
