Parenting, when we pamper our children too much, there can be a concern that they may become stubborn, oversensitive, or emotionally weak. Giving love is important, but maintaining a balance is even more important. Here are 5 signs that can tell that your pampering is hurting the child's development.

1. The child insists on getting everything done
If the child repeatedly tries to get his point across by crying, screaming, or rolling on the floor, and you give in every time to pacify him. Then this is a sign that he is becoming stubborn. This habit can lead to a lack of discipline in the future.

2. Breaks down on hearing no
If the child breaks down emotionally on hearing “no”, starts crying, gets angry or shows behavior like harming himself, then this is a sign that he is becoming emotionally weak.

3. Feels the need for support every time

If the child is dependent on you for even small decisions, or asks for help before trying every problem himself, then it is possible that over-protective pampering has prevented him from becoming self-reliant.

4. Cannot tolerate criticism
If you or someone else objects to his behavior and he takes it to heart, then this is also a sign of emotional weakness. Too much pampering makes the child consider himself “perfect” every time, due to which he starts rejecting criticism.

5. Emotionally blackmails
When some children see that they get what they want every time by crying or getting angry, they make it a habit. This is the beginning of “emotional blackmail”, which can become a big problem in relationships later on.

What to do?

Give love to the child, but also set limits.
Develop the habit of saying “no”, and make him understand that not every demand can be fulfilled.
When he does something on his own, appreciate him.
When he fails, support him, but don’t give the solution yourself every time.
Have an emotional conversation so that he understands his emotions and learns to handle them.
